Winter system moving across northeastern Ontario and southwestern Quebec

Areas north of Elliot Lake are expected to see 20 to 40 cm of snow with the Elliot Lake area expected to see near 5 to 10 cm today. A period of freezing rain for Elliot Lake is likely before the changeover to snow early this morning.

Additional snowfall amounts of 10 to 15 centimetres are expected for Northwestern Abitibi and the Matagami area. Abitibi-Témiscamingue and the Miquelon and Desmaraisville area will see freezing rain giving 2 millimetres of ice accretion.
