Winter storm impacting Ontario today
Snow, winds, and freezing rain are expected today across Ontario as an area of low pressure pushes through.
Snowfall forecast
Areas east of Lake Superior will see snow and lake-effect snow resulting in 20 cm today. Up to 15 cm is likely for areas north of Lake Superior. Portions of northern and far northern Ontario will get about 10 cm of snow and northern Ontario, central Ontario and eastern Ontario will see snowfall amounts of 5 to 10 cm.
Freezing rain or freezing drizzle is expected across southwestern Ontario and the Greater Golden Horseshoe. The greatest threat of freezing rain is in the Windsor area.
Wind forecast
Strong winds are expected across most of the province. Areas east of Lake Superior and Manitoulin Island, the Grey/Bruce region, and east of Georgian Bay will see strong winds gusting as high as 90 km/h. Portions of northern and far northern Ontario will see gusts to 60 km/h.
With these winds, there will be a risk of power outages.
