Tsunami advisory issued for parts of Japan after large earthquake
A tsunami advisory is in effect for Kochi Pref. and Miyazaki Pref. in Japan after a 6.8 magnitude earthquake hit 11.6 km east-southeast of Miyazaki, Japan.
It was at a depth of 48 km and occurred at 9:19 p.m. local time Monday.
Those in the affected areas should keep away from coasts and river mouths. There could be some changes to the sea level, but there is no threat of tsunami damage.

The Japan Meteorological Agency said they have begun an investigation into the relationship between the earthquake and a Nankai Trough earthquake.
