Tornado and downburst confirmed in Alberta


Environment and Climate Change Canada and the Northern Tornadoes Project have confirmed a tornado and a downburst in Alberta.
A severe thunderstorm moved through Cypress County near Redcliff and Medicine Hat on July 18.
There was a tornado southwest of Redcliff. This tornado damaged multiple homes, an RV and grain bins. It has been rated as an EF-2 with estimated winds of 190 km/h.
Additionally, there was a downburst near Redcliff. The downburst caused widespread damage to trees, power lines and structures in and around the area. It has been rated as an EF-1 with an estimated wind speed of 150 km/h.
