Things in the Atlantic could get more active soon

The tropical Atlantic might be quiet for now, but that's likely to change as we head into September.

The latest outlook from NOAA's Climate Prediction Center indicated that there is a good chance of seeing the formation of a tropical cyclone between August 28 and September 3 and a moderate probability from September 4 to 10. It's important to note that this is not a forecast.

Sea surface temperatures in the central Atlantic Ocean are near 29 degrees which will cause more evaporation and in turn more clouds.

We are also approaching the traditional peak activity period in an Atlantic hurricane season which is from late August through September, with a midpoint on September 10.
