A cold front sweeping across Ontario is bringing snow and strong winds to the province.

Across far northeastern Ontario and northeastern Ontario, there will be little snow accumulation but winds will gust between 70 and 80 km/h resulting in widespread blowing snow. East of Lake Huron, northeast of Lake Erie and Lake Ontario, wind gusts will be 90 km/h.

Snowfall amounts of 5 to 10 cm are expected over parts of far northern, northern, and central Ontario.

The remainder of the province will see wind gusts between 70 and 80 km/h.

Areas from Quebec to Montreal to the Ontario border could see snow squalls as the cold front sweeps through. Snow squalls are expected north of that area.

Winds will gust to 90 km/h in southwestern Quebec.

Lake effect snow

Areas east of Lake Superior will see nearly 40 cm of snow today and winds gusting to 90 km/h. Snow squalls are also expected east of Georgian Bay where 20 cm of snow could fall and winds will gust to 90 km/h.
