Strong Earthquake off the Coast of Tonga

A magnitude 6.6 earthquake has hit 133.7 km west of Neiafu, Tonga in the Pacific Ocean.

It was at a depth of 13 kilometers and struck on Monday at 10:43 am local time.

The area is located along the Pacific Ring of Fire and it is geologically active.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center officials said there is no tsunami threat.
