Strong earthquake hits Fiji

Just after midnight local time a 6.5 magnitude earthquake occurred in Fiji.

It was at a depth of 547 km and was centred 187.8 km west-southwest of Levuka in eastern Fiji, an area with a population of about 8,360.

There were no immediate reports of damage.
