Stormy Friday ahead for the Avalon Peninsula

Writer's picture: Jessica FranklinJessica Franklin

There is increasing confidence that the Avalon Peninsula will see a winter storm on Friday.

It appears as though snow will start on Friday and continue into Friday night.

An area of low pressure will pass well south of the Island on Friday but will be near enough to send snow and strong winds across the Avalon Peninsula.

While a slight shift in the track could change numbers significantly, it looks like the southeastern Avalon Peninsula could see snowfall amounts near 20 cm. 5 to 10 cm is expected for the northwestern and southwestern Avalon Peninsula.

If the low move closer, snowfall amounts will increase while if it tracks father away, amounts will decrease.
