Snow, freezing rain, and rain across Newfoundland today


Rain is occurring on the Avalon Peninsula and southern coastal areas. Portions of the west coast and central will see significant amounts of freezing rain, and it will be mostly snow on the Great Northern Peninsula. Winds across the Avalon, south coast, and north coast will gust from 80 to 100 km/h at times.


In southeastern Labrador, snowfall amounts of 20 to 40 cm are expected. Additionally, wind gusts from 80 to 130 km/h are expected.

Due to the storm, Marine Atlantic is not sailing today and may cancel crossings scheduled for Sunday morning. Most provincial ferries are also not sailing today.


Roads are snow-covered or icy across most of Newfoundland and southeastern Labrador. Roads closures are likely today from Red Bay and Lodge Bay. There's also poor visibility in most areas.
