Severe Weather Rips Through NW Ontario

On Monday severe thunderstorms moved through parts of Northwestern Ontario on Monday.

Strong winds caused widespread damage.


At Mishkeegogamang First Nation there was damage to buildings and trees down. In Pickle Lake there were indications that power and communications are down. Fort Frances saw a wind gust to 85 km/h.


There were reports of trees down in Quetico Provincial Park, Shebandowan, Ignace, Upsala, Raith, Atikokan, Gull Bay, Mishkeegogamang First Nation, and Fort Frances.


Heavy Rain Reports:

  • Wiebenville - 58.4 mm in 5 hours

  • Bak Lake - 56.1 mm in 4 hours

  • Poplar Hill Airport - 55.5 mm in 6 hours
