Northern Ontario

For areas west of Lake Superior, snowfall amounts up to 25 cm are possible, with locally higher amounts over elevated terrain. Gusty winds could lead to local blowing snow, especially near Lake Superior. Some additional snowfall amounts are expected on Thursday.

Northwestern Ontario and north of Lake Superior could see 15 cm of snow today and more snow is expected on Thursday.

For Southern portions of northeastern Ontario and portions of eastern Ontario, a messy mix of winter precipitation is expected. Snow mixed with ice pellets is expected to develop Wednesday afternoon with up to 5 cm possible before changing to a brief period of freezing rain. At this time confidence in ice accretion amounts is low, however, ice accretion amounts should remain fairly low as the freezing rain will be transitioning to rain Wednesday night.

Southern Ontario

Rain begins this morning over extreme southwestern Ontario before reaching the Golden Horseshoe this afternoon. With thunderstorms expected, rainfall amounts may exceed 50 mm over some areas, particularly over southwestern Ontario. Rain will end from west to east overnight into early Thursday morning.

Freezing rain begins east of Lake Huron this morning before reaching eastern Ontario later this afternoon. Precipitation may begin as snow and ice pellets for some areas. Easterly winds gusting 50 to 60 km/h may exacerbate any tree damage.
