Plane catches fire at Halifax Airport after skidding down runway
An Air Canada flight, operated by PAL Airlines, experienced a problem landing at the Halifax Stanfield International Airport on Saturday evening.
The plane skidded down the runway and a portion of the aircraft caught on fire.
Flight 2259 departed from the St. John’s International Airport.
All passengers and crew on board were deplaned and transported off the airfield. There were some minor injuries.
The airfield was closed briefly, but a runway was cleared to resume regular operations.
The cause of the incident is unknown.
