Heavy Rain and Strong Winds Hit Newfoundland, Snowfall Expected in Northern Regions

Rain is falling across most of Newfoundland. Heavy rain will continue over southern, northeastern, and eastern Newfoundland, including the Avalon Peninsula. Rainfall amounts between 25 to 40 mm, except up to 80 mm over the Burin and southern Avalon Peninsulas is expected by midnight.
Flooding is possible due to rain, melting snow, and warm temperatures.
Snow, blowing snow, and strong winds are expected later this afternoon through tonight for Green Bay and White Bay with 15 to 20 cm expected. Rain, or a rain-snow mix, will change to snow this afternoon.
On the Northern Peninsula, 10 to 20 cm of snow is expected combined with wind gusts between 70 and 100 km/h.
5 to 10 cm of snow is expected for southeastern Labrador from L'Anse-au-Clair to Norman Bay.
