Heavy rain and strong wind to impact southwestern British Columbia tonight

A large low will bring heavy rain and strong winds to Vancouver Island and the British Columbia Lower Mainland tonight, Monday, and Monday night.

Some regions could see 40 to 70 mm of rain by the time the storm moves away. While the area has been dry and needs rain, there is the potential for some localized flooding.

Winds will continue to increase tonight across northern Vancouver Island. The strongest winds near 100 km/h will be across the exposed coastal sections of northern Vancouver Island and southern sections of the Central Coast, near Queen Charlotte Strait.

A second frontal system will arrive on Monday with rain and wind speeds again approaching 90 km/h with gusts to 110 for the exposed coastal sections of northern Vancouver Island and Central Coast - Coastal sections.
