Heathrow Airport, the busiest airport in Europe, has been forced to close following a fire at a power substation that supplies the airport. The fire caused a major power outage, leading to the cancellation of thousands of flights. There remains no power to Heathrow Airport Terminal 2 or Terminal 4.

The airport will remain closed throughout Friday as emergency crews work to restore power and assess the situation. Passengers are urged not to travel to the airport and are advised to contact their airlines for further updates on their flights.

The London Fire Brigade has confirmed that the fire is still burning. Additionally, nearly 5,000 homes in the surrounding area have also been affected by the outage. Authorities are working to contain the situation and restore services as quickly as possible. Ten fire engines, two Bulk Foam Units and one High Volume Pump were on scene at the peak of the incident.
