Extreme heat across western Canada to continue

A prolonged heat event is underway in western Canada.

British Columbia

Along the BC Coast, high temperatures will be in the low to mid 30's, except high 30's near Pemberton. Overnight lows will be near 16 degrees. Interior areas will see highs in the mid 30s with overnight lows in the high teens to low 20s.

Hot conditions will begin on Monday and are expected to continue through Wednesday.

Alberta

Extremely hot temperatures of 30 to 35 degrees Celsius combined with overnight lows of 14 degrees Celsius or greater are expected until at least mid week.

Daytime highs will gradually increase to near 35 degrees Celsius by Wednesday for many regions of Alberta. Overnight lows in the mid teens will not provide much relief from the heat.

Northern Saskatchewan

Across northern Saskatchewan, daytime highs near 30 are expected today and temperatures will gradually increase to near 35 degrees Celsius by Wednesday. Overnight lows in the mid teens will not provide much relief from the heat.

Safety Tips:

Those who are outside should consider rescheduling outdoor activities to cooler hours of the day. Make sure to take frequent breaks from the heat, spending time in cooled indoor spaces where possible and drink plenty of water to stay hydrated.

Check for your children or pets before you exit your vehicle. Do not leave any person or pet inside a closed vehicle, for any length of time.
