Europe swelters in hot weather



The Balkans, along with most of Europe, is contending with extremely high temperatures with some areas exceeding 40°C.


There are several forest fires across the continent due to warm weather and for the first time in history drying up the Rusanda salt lake in northern Serbia. The lake is 4 km2.


In Italy two firefighters were killed while fighting a fire in the southern region of the country.


Officials closed the Acropolis in Greece for several hours due to the hot weather.
