Dangerous Arctic Air to push across most of North America
A good chunk of Canada and the United States will see the coldest air of season as an Arctic airmass moves south across the continent. It will be so cold, Gulf Coast states (Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida) could see snow.
Extreme cold warnings are in effect across portions of the Prairies, northern Ontario, and western Quebec.
This weekend, wind chills across Manitoba and Saskatchewan will dip to minus 40 to minus 45. Tonight through Tuesday morning, wind chill values will approach minus 45 across northwestern Ontario and between minus 38 and minus 42 across western Quebec from Saturday evening until Wednesday.
Stateside, temperatures will plunge by 30-40 degrees this weekend on the Fahrenheit scale. Forecast highs this weekend across the northern Plains will be in the negative single digits and areas in the Midwest in the single digits. Minimum wind chills could be in the -30 to -55 range.
