Blizzard Warning in... Hawaii?
Hawaii is known for warm sandy beaches and sunshine. A blizzard is probably not something you would associate with Hawaii but there is a blizzard warning in effect for Big Island Summits.
Blizzard conditions are expected tonight to Sunday morning. Total snow accumulations of up to 12 inches (30 cm) or more are possible. Winds are expected to gust over 100 mph (160 km/h).
Flood watches are in effect for all Hawaiian Islands. The rain and snow is good news for Hawaii which is experiencing drought conditions with some areas experiencing exceptional drought.
Honolulu could receive 100 to 200 mm of rain between now and Tuesday.
