6.0 magnitude earthquake in the South Sandwich Islands region

There has been a 6.0 magnitude earthquake in the South Sandwich Islands region.

The earthquake occurred on Friday at 9:42 p.m. local time and was centred 2355.7 km southwest of Edinburgh of the Seven Seas, Saint Helena.

It was at a depth of 35 km.

There were no reports of injuries and no tsunami threat.
