17 People Dead in India After Monsoon Rains Cause Wall to Collapse

Heavy rain across the state of Tamil Nadu in India has killed 17 people.

A large wall, measuring 6 metres high, collapsed on their homes Monday night.

Rescue efforts are underway to find people trapped in the debris.

More heavy rain is expected. In anticipation, schools and post-secondary institutions in the state have closed.

This is the worst monsoon to hit India in 25 years. Hundreds of people have died.
