The nation of Yemen has been slammed by Cyclone Chapala. Cyclone Chapala is one of the most powerful tropical storms ever to form in the Arabian Sea.

As we reported last week it made landfall near the border with Yemen and Oman on Monday with sustained winds of about 144 km/h with higher gusts. Additionally over 200 mm of rain has been reported.

This is a very dry area on earth and the area will be getting 10 years worth of rain in a short span of time.

So far three people are dead and over 200 injured from the storm.

There are also widespread power outages.

Yemen is an Arab country in Southwest Asia, occupying the southwestern to southern end of the Arabian Peninsula. Yemen is the second largest country in the peninsula, occupying 527,970 km².
