Worst Wildfire Season in BC History

Posted by Kyle Brookings on Thursday, August 30, 2018

The state of emergency in British Columbia has been extended due to the wildfires.

2018 is now the worst wildfire season on record.

Last year was the worst, however, now about 13,000 sq km has burned. That's more than twice the size of Prince Edward Island.

As of yesterday morning there were still 534 fires considered active.

As far as scientists are concerned there are several reasons for the severity of wildfire seasons. Lack of controlled burning and a change in weather patterns.
