Wintery Mix for Ontario

Posted by on Monday, February 1, 2016

A Colorado Low will be tracking over the Great Lakes Tuesday night into Wednesday morning bringing a wintery mix of weather.

It currently appears that precipitation will begin early in the evening.

Models are in good agreement with the track of this system. However, there is some disagreement regarding precipitation types. Rain is possible for many areas, however areas just north and west of the GTA may see ice pellets or freezing rain before a transition to rain. Snow is expected in central Ontario.

For southwestern Ontario 20 mm of rain is possible. For central Ontario snowfall totals should not exceed 5 to 10 cm. Gusty winds will also accompany this system.

Rain will come to an end Wednesday as the storm moves into Quebec.
