Winter storm and thunderstorms

Posted by on Monday, February 29, 2016

An Arctic cold front is expected to reach the central Plains and Ohio Valley by Tuesday morning with much colder temperatures behind it.

At the same time a low is expected to develop over Kansas Monday evening along this arctic boundary.  It is forecast to develop into a winter storm from South Dakota to the Great Lakes, with several centimeters of snow expected.

Father south it will be more active with the risk of severe thunderstorms. Scattered severe thunderstorms are possible along a corridor from the lower Mississippi valley into middle Tennessee. Locally damaging winds and isolated tornadoes are the main threat.
