Winnipeg Blows Snow-Clearing Budget

Posted by on Monday, March 13, 2017

The City of Winnipeg will end up with a deficit this year all because of snowfall.

Back in November the City introduced a $1.08-billion budget for 2017, about one per cent of the budget was supposed to come from savings from snow-clearing.

However, December was the second-snowiest December on record.

Now as a result the City has a hiring freeze. City positions will go unfilled except for police, paramedics, firefighters or bus drivers.

On average Winnipeg has 54.7 days with snowfall.
