Windy and Snowy Weekend ahead for the Prairies

Strong winds will persist in Alberta this morning as a clipper forms over northeastern British Columbia and moves into Saskatchewan.

A cold front will bring gusty westerly winds to Alberta as well today. This clipper will affect further east on the Prairies over the course of the weekend, bringing strong northwesterly winds to southwestern Saskatchewan with gusts of 70 to 80 km/h possible.

Snow with this system will advance into southern Saskatchewan and Manitoba as well. 5 to 10 cm of snow is possible today and another 5 to 10 cm by Sunday morning. Overnight into Sunday, another 10 cm is possible around the Swan River region. There is a risk of freezing rain are possible over parts of Saskatchewan and Manitoba with this system on Saturday.
