Hurricane Irma has been a hurricane for a few days now and continues to track westward toward the Leeward Islands.

Over the course of the next three days Irma is expected to strengthen and could reach category 4 or even category 5 status by next Saturday.

Irma is expected to make a move northward once it reaches the northern Leeward Islands.

From there it may track up the Eastern Seaboard of the United States and then eventually to Atlantic Canada.

Anything beyond a couple of days is based on model runs at this point, however residents along up the Eastern Seaboard of the United States and Atlantic Canada should monitor the progress of Irma.
