Wet Thanksgiving Weekend for the East

Posted by on Friday, October 7, 2016

It appears as though heavy rain will invade Newfoundland just in time for Holiday Monday.

A low over Labrador will act as a precursor bringing heavy rain to Labrador and the Maritimes where rainfall totals of 20 to 50 mm are possible.

Once the rain moves over Newfoundland the Low over Labrador will draw moisture from Matthew and bring drenching rain to the Island portion of the province.

The Avalon could pick up 20 to 40 mm. Central and Western Newfoundland may receive 50 to 75 mm of rain. Some localized rainfall amounts of 100 mm are not out of the question.

The rain will be accompanied by gusty wind.

It is important to note that this situation may change rapidly.
