Wet Saturday for NL

Posted by on Friday, May 27, 2016

A low pressure system will approach Newfoundland from the west on Saturday. The low will then push across the island portion of the province throughout the day on Saturday before moving out of the region on Saturday night.

Off the northeast coast of Newfoundland a rain snow mix is expected, however a slight shift in the track to the south can result in some mixed precipitation along the northeast coast of the island.

Rainfall amounts will range anywhere from as little as 5 mm to as much as 20 to 30 mm. The heaviest rain will fall just north of Corner Brook and extend along the TCH just south of Green Bay-White Bay. On the Northern Peninsula, Corner Brook and central Newfoundland 10 to 20 mm of rain is expected. On the Avalon rainfall totals will range from 5 to 10 mm. The South coast will receive the least amount of rain with only 5 mm likely.
