Weekend Low for NS & NL

Posted by Kyle Brookings on Thursday, December 7, 2017

We are watching an area of low pressure that is expected to track over Newfoundland and Nova Scotia over the weekend.

There is still some disagreement on the exact track of the low. At this time we prefer the ECMWF model. The low is expected to be very deep with the central pressure expected to be 991 mb.

While it is still too early to get specific on precipitation amounts, it appears as though Nova Scotia will get a rain/snow mix for most areas.

Newfoundland will begin as snow, with the south coast and Avalon changing to rain.

We continue to monitor this system and will provide more details as they become available.
