Weather woes in Alberta

Posted by on Wednesday, July 22, 2015

Wednesday was a very active day for Alberta. Severe thunderstorms developed near Calgary and tracked eastwards towards Coronation. These thunderstorms produced a tornado, large hail, funnel clouds, and strong winds.

The city of Calgary was placed under a tornado warning for a period. The severe thunderstorm that moved over Southern Calgary produced a tornado just north of Priddis.

Funnel clouds were reported west of Cochrane, over southern sections of Calgary, and near Strathmore.

There was also some golf ball sized hail in the Calgary and Beiseker are.

Strong winds were also an issue in Hussar where a gust of 154 km/h was recorded. Also in Patricia there was a gust of 98 km/h.
