Weather Puts Damper on Royal Visit

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were supposed to visit Bella Bella and Victoria, British Columbia for a First Nations Welcome, Dedication of the Great Bear Rainforest, and finally Black Rod Ceremony at Government House in Victoria... the weather had other plans.

Heavy rain and strong wind pounded the North Coast - inland sections today. Environment Canada had issued a rainfall warning for rainfall totals nearing 70 mm.

In the Autumn the region typically experiences severe weather.

Several parts of their itinerary in the North Central coastal community were cut short or cancelled.
