We All need to Hope this doesn't Happen

Scientists have a dire warning for Earth, and if you live in a coastal city pay attention. A climate model has predicted that the West Antarctic ice sheet could rapidly melt.

For nearly 50 years’ scientists have seen the West Antarctic ice sheet near total collapse. The ice sheet is a remnant of the last ice age and is larger than Mexico.

The unsettling part is that a small amount of global warming could cause it to fall to pieces. When it does so, it has the potential to raise sea level by 3 metres or more. Due to climate change this may play out in decades rather that centuries. With ice melting in other regions, too, the total rise of the sea could reach five or six feet by 2100.

Major cities such as New York, Miami, New Orleans, London, Venice, Shanghai, Hong Kong and Sydney will need to implement measures of some sort.
