Waterton Lakes Fire Out of Control

An emergency has been declared in Cardston County, Alberta as a fire burns and is out of control.

RCMP officers along with Parks Canada staff are going door to door with telling some residents to leave their homes. 

The Kenow wildfire expanded at a much more rapid pace than officials expected. 

Resients of Pincher Creek were up all through the night evacuating.

The evacuation zone includes all residents south of Highway 505. 

The Blood Reserve, Canada's largest reserve, started to evacuate just after 4 am this morning.

Evacuees from Pincher Creek need to check in at the command centre set up at Vertical Church at 1200 Ken Thornton Blvd. or calling 403-904-8016.

In Cardston, evacuees are being directed to the Civic Center at 67 3rd Avenue W. in the Town of Cardston, or call them at 403-653-3366.
