While still a few days away, the eastern Pacific hurricane season may be off to an early start.

The National Hurricane Center is watching an area of low pressure located more than 1100 miles southwest of the southern tip of the Baja California peninsula.

While the low is expected to enter an area not conductive for development, there is a 50 percent chance in the low developing withing 48 hours and over the next five days.

The first storm to form in the eastern Pacific will be names Aletta.
