There is a low centered just east of Belize that is producing cloudiness and showers across the Caribbean Sea across Cuba and into the Florida peninsula.

Right now strong upper-level winds will hinder any development.

However, some development is possible later this week as the low moves into the central or eastern Gulf of Mexico.

The system is bringing heavy rain to western Cuba, the Cayman Islands, and Florida,

The National Hurricane Center says that there is a 50 percent chance of development through the next five days.

The first named storm of the year will be Alberto.

Officially the Atlantic Hurricane Season begins on June 1 and end on November 30.
