Volcano Under Alert After Eruption

Bogoslof volcano is once again under higher alert levels. The volcano erupted several times last week.

There was an ash-producing eruption on Monday. No aircraft alerts were issued.

The cloud towered over 9000 metres above sea level.

Bogoslof Island is the summit of a submarine stratovolcano located along the southern edge of the Bering Sea. With an elevation of 150 metres it is 56 kilometres northwest of Unalaska Island of the Aleutian Island chain.

Bogoslof volcano last erupted in 1992.
