Viable Tropical Development

Posted by on Tuesday, April 18, 2017

There is a mid-latitude cyclone spinning in the central Atlantic about midway between Bermuda and the Azores.

The U.S. National Hurricane Center has issued a "Special Tropical Weather Outlook" for the system.

Over the next few days the low will stagger around its current location and does not post a threat to land in the near future.

While there is some shower activity, there is only a 30 percent chance of the low developing into a tropical storm.

Environmental conditions could favor additional development and this system has some potential to become a subtropical cyclone over the next day or so as it moves generally eastward.
