Update on Power Situation

Some power customers have now been without power for over 24 hours.

Newfoundland Power and NL Hydro are working frantically to get all customers back online.

13,500 customers are still without electricity.

It is more bad news for those on the Burin Peninsula. Crews are working to repair the two downed structures on the transmission line to the Burin Peninsula. Based on the extent of repairs needed, the estimated restoration time for customers in the region is Monday, March 13th at 8 p.m.

Customers on the Avalon are currently under a "power watch" which means that no immediate action is required, however the electricity system is being watched closely. Customers should be prepared to conserve power if asked.
