Update on Bomb Threat at St. John's Airport

The RNC found nothing suspicious and the all-clear was given around 11:30 p.m. after a bomb threat temporarily shut down St. John's International Airport on Thursday night.

The bomb threat was in the form of a note found on the plane just before take off around 7:00 p.m. yesterday. Three St. John's women were questioned as part of an investigation.

RNC conducted background checks were done on passengers, cross-referencing national police databases before they were permitted to fly.

The flight in question was Air Canada flight 143 destined for Ottawa.

In total 13 arriving flights were impacted. The Gander airport cleared their runways for three diverted planes that couldn't land in St. John's as a result of Thursday's bomb threat.
