Unsettled Weekend for NL

It will be a very unsettled weekend for Newfoundland and Labrador. Many areas will see rain, heavy snow, and strong wind.

Here is your snowfall forecast for Friday to Sunday


Snowfall warnings have been issued for Cartwright to Black Tickle and Eagle River. In these areas snowfall totals reaching 20 to 30 cm are forecast by Saturday evening. 

Heavy snow is likely over other areas as well however it will be below warning criteria.

Meanwhile an extended period of freezing rain is likely tonight in the Humber Valley and Green Bay - White Bay area. Roads will become very slippery. 


Saturday night winds will be strong for many areas. Along the west coast gusts may reach 100 km/h. 90 km/h wind gusts in central, and gusts to 90 km/h in St. John's. There is a Wreckhouse wind warning in effect for Channel-Port aux Basques and vicinity. Gusts reaching 120 km/h in the Wreckhouse area this afternoon. Winds will subside this evening.

In Labrador gusts to 110 km/h are possible along the coast with gusts to 50 km/h inland.
