Unsettled Week Ahead for Newfoundland

Posted by on Saturday, January 9, 2016

A pair of low pressure systems appear to be getting set to impact Newfoundland.

Low # 1
The first low arrives on Monday Night into Tuesday. This will mainly be a rain event. The Avalon may pick up 15-20 mm of rain. Central Newfoundland may cumulate only 5 mm of rain and 1-3 cm of snow. The West Coast may get 2-4 mm of rain and 3 cm of snow.

Low # 2
The second low will be more intense than the first. Arriving Wednesday Night into Thursday, this low has the potential to bring a great deal of snow through Newfoundland. Although these numbers are extremely preliminary the Avalon may only pick up snowfall totals of 5 cm and 10-15 mm of rain. Central Newfoundland may rack up 15-20 cm of the white stuff. The West Coast may get 15-30 cm.
