Hurricane Maria is kicking up some strong wave action along the shores of North Carolina.

In those waves something strange has appeared.

On Monday, two unexploded naval mines were found on beaches along North Carolina's Outer Banks.

It's believed the mines date back to World War II.

The mines were training mines and as such there was no danger to the public because the devices were not live.

There were no injuries and the devices were safely removed.
