An area of low pressure will bring some very un-spring-like weather to Newfoundland and Labrador over the course of this weekend.

Rain will spread across the Island and southeastern Labrador today.

On Saturday morning southeastern Labrador will will change to snow.

By noon on Saturday the west coast will see a rain-snow mix.

Heavy wet snow is possible near Blanc-Sablon and over southeast Labrador and the Northern Peninsula. There is also a risk of freezing rain over the Northern Peninsula. 5 to 15 cm are possible over the affected areas.

The rain-snow mix will gradually move eastward on Saturday, reaching central late on Saturday and then the Avalon on noon Sunday.

Some parts of the west coast could see 10 cm of snow, especially over higher terrain.

Additionally very strong winds are likely from Cape Breton to far eastern Quebec to coastal Newfoundland.
