Posted by on Sunday, October 22, 2017

Typhoon Lan is approaching landfall in southeastern Honshu.

The storm will bring heavy rain and strong winds that will cause flooding and mudslides.

Most of central and southern Japan will be battered by strong wind.

There will also be pounding surf Sunday night into Monday.

Lan is moving toward the north and northeast.

Some areas such as Shingu in Wakayama Prefecture in southern Japan has already had over 500 mm of rain.

Lan has begun to lose some of its intensity and is transitioning to an extratropical storm.
