It looks like 2017 will go out with a bang.

An area of low pressure will push over the Avalon on Saturday night. While there remains some uncertainty there is the possibility that some areas could see 15 to 20 cm. It looks like the Burin Peninsula north to the Bonavista Peninsula could see some snowfall also.

The low is expected to track just south and east of the Avalon, so even a slight shift in the track could alter snowfall amounts.

A secondary area of low pressure is expected to have an impact on the Island on Tuesday, that low will take more of a westward track, this means that Central Newfoundland may bear the brunt of this storm. Due to how far away this event is, there remains considerably uncertainty.
