Tropical Storm Calvin Slams Mexico

Tropical Storm Calvin formed on Monday in the Pacific Ocean.

From there it smashed into a portions of southern Mexico bringing heavy rain and strong winds in an area that is home to beach communities and is a popular destination with tourists.

A tropical storm warning was issued for the Mexican coast between Punta Maldonado and Boca de Pijijiapan.

Torrential rains continued over southern Mexico, the rains associated with the remnants of Calvin. 

There is still heavy rains that could cause life-threatening flash floods and mud slides.    

Calvin is the third tropical storm of the eastern Pacific season, which began May 15.
