Town Abolishes Law That Made Snowball Fights Illegal

Posted by Kyle Brookings on Saturday, December 8, 2018

As children we have all had snowball fights, that is unless you live in a Colorado town where snowball fights have been illegal since 1920. A law that has recently been changed.

9-year-old Dane Best convinced the town council of Severance to abolish the law.

A 2016 population estimate pegged the town at 4,021 residents.

After the council agreed to abolish the law the first snowball fight took place shortly after. Dane got to throw the first snowball and his target was his little brother.

Dane argued that, "children of Severance want the opportunity to have a snowball fight like the rest of the world."

It is important to note that the rule was not enforced.
